Praecis Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Praecis Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Waltham, Massachusetts offers visitors the delight of a dreamlike entry garden that transports them to another world. Three silvery "snow tents" cover Japanese white pine trees with gossamer threads, towering thirty to forty feet in the air as luminous focal points in a dry landscape garden that sits opposite the L-shaped office building. Glistening white granite gravel forms a figurative "pool" of water that is raked in patterns. A strolling path takes visitors through a garden of stone, grasses, evergreens, and Japanese maple trees, with a bridge for crossing the "water" and places to pause and contemplate along the way. Within the building are twelve smaller dry "gardens," in the main lobby, the waiting areas, in front of offices, and two "Gathering Gardens" for meetings of small groups.
